Bio-Research Products announced today the first commercial, plant-based diamine oxidase (DAO). Dr. Bryce Cunningham, President and Chief Technology Officer of Bio-Research, reports that this new diamine oxidase is significantly more active than DAO derived from pig kidney tissue. The enzyme is now available as a stable liquid concentrate. Price will be $100 per kilounit.
Diamine Oxidase is useful for test assays to detect spoilage by the presence of histamines in wine and seafoods. DAO is especially active towards diaminopentane and diaminohexane. Bio-Research's diamine oxidase can also play a role in histidine remediation.
