Dr. Bryce Cunningham, President and Chief Technology Officer of Bio-Research, reports that this new diamine oxidase is orders of magnitude more active than DAO derived from pig kidney tissue. The enzyme is available as a lyophilized powder. Price will be $200 per kilounit.
Diamine Oxidase is useful for test assays to detect spoilage by the presence of histamines in wine and seafoods. DAO is especially active towards diaminopentane and diaminohexane. With better availability and with higher activity, Bio-Research's diamine oxidase can also play a role in diagnostic assays for histamine allergies.
