Bio-Research Products Exhibiting at Engredea Trade Show

Bio-Research Products will be exhibiting at the upcoming Engredea trade show in Anaheim CA on March 9-11.  We will be featuring our food grade enzymes and food-additive products including Diamine Oxidase, Lactoferrin and Lactoperoxidase.  Come and visit with us at booth #846.

Bio-Research Products announced today that it is adding a liquid version of Glutathione Reductase (GR # 801) to its product line. The new Glutathione Reductase offers customers a choice between working with a solid, lyophilized (#800) or a liquid (#801) GR enzyme. Both versions are free of ammonium ions. Glutathione Reductase #801 has a specific activity of 20 IU/mg protein and an enzyme activity of 300 IU/mL.

GREENING ALDEHYDE PRODUCTION  

Bio-Research Products and Chloroperoxidase enzyme catalyst were featured in the article "Greening Aldehyde Production" about room temperature oxidation of alcohols to aldehyde fragrances.  Also mentioned was the work Bio-Research Products is doing with an immobilized Chloroperoxidase biocatalyst for commercial scale reactions.  This article is on page 9 of the January 2011 issue of "Perfumer & Flavorist" magazine.

Dr. Harold Durkin, Business Development Manager, describes Chloroperoxidase as a catalyst for oxidation of alcohols and double bonds that allows these reactions to proceed at room temperature to high yields without by-products.  "This catalyst fits in well with the green chemistry movement and should be of particular interest to the fragrance industry where oxidation of primary alcohols to aldehydes is a key route to aroma chemicals."

Bio-Research Products also produces industrial grades of its Soybean Peroxidase (SBP) enzyme.   SBP #514 (liquid) is useful for the polymerization of conductive polymers such as polyaniline and SBP #X516-IND (powder) is offered for the bioremediation of waste water and manure odors.

Bio-Research Products announced today the first commercial, plant-based diamine oxidase (DAO). Dr. Bryce Cunningham, President and Chief Technology Officer of Bio-Research, reports that this new diamine oxidase is significantly more active than DAO derived from pig kidney tissue. The enzyme is now available as a stable liquid concentrate. Price will be $100 per kilounit.
Diamine Oxidase is useful for test assays to detect spoilage by the presence of histamines in wine and seafoods. DAO is especially active towards diaminopentane and diaminohexane. Bio-Research's diamine oxidase can also play a role in histidine remediation.
